"Everybody tells you to cherish every moment of your wedding day because it is gone in a flash ... and it is ... unless you have Ian taking your photos.

How can I describe to you the emotions Ian's photos still conjure up in our minds, 18 months after our big day? How can I express to you how Ian ‘caught’ the essence of James and me, the intimacy between us yet the underlying friendship and love we share? That is supposed to be something private between James and I and yet somehow Ian got to know us so well in such a short time that he reflected back to us in our wedding photos a depth beyond the classic wedding line ups.

If I were to liken Ian to film director I would do him a great injustice, because on the day he is more than that – not only does he direct your poses but he brings calm and humour to the occasion. You know that ‘stubborn relative’ who doesn't want to stand in the right position, or when the bride (yes me) is tense, Ian has a way of teasing you into forgetting the camera is there – even though it is glaring you in the face.

He has an uncanny knack for spotting the surroundings and blending your pose to mimic them, unbeknown to you on the day – such as a twisting willow climbing a wall and the way he positioned my arms and posture. When you look at Ian’s photos you will feel great pleasure time and time again, when you spot something in Ian’s photos you didn’t spot the first time, or even the second time.

Everybody who has seen our photos has nothing but praise for Ian, even our friends who are professional photographers. If what you want from your wedding day is a tiny little bit of the day to relish in again and again, then don’t go to Ian – for what you get with Ian is a crescendo of high emotions that hit you wave after wave as you peruse through picture after picture of the highest quality."
